This event brings together NUSF representatives, members of the FISU Family, and FISU Student Ambassadors to celebrate and discuss women’s achievements and issues in sports. With 45-80 participants, it’s an excellent opportunity for networking, learning, and inspiring change.

Gender Equality: Are you ready?

The next FISU Gender Equality webinar, is scheduled on Tuesday 5 March 2025 and will spotlight innovative projects and best practices from different countries on gender equality. Through these examples, the webinar will address the challenges and achievements for women in sport careers on and off the field.

The Deputy Executive Secretary to Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS – Council of Europe) Francine Raveney will highlight the Council of Europe’s work on most recent initiatives and benefits of greater gender equality in sport.

Former track and field athlete and IOC Young Leader Martin Johansen (Denmark) will then elaborate on how the gender imbalance among staff can affect the progress of female athletes. His project ‘CoachEquity’ is aimed at bringing more female coaches into high-performance athletics.

The FISU Gender Equality webinar will be moderated by Nobubele Phuza, Lecturer in sociology at Nelson Mandela University, and Member of the FISU Gender Equality Committee.

Last FISU Gender Equality Webinar – 11 March 2024

As part of the Gender Equality FISU activities, this webinar celebrated examples of gender equality best practices within university sport, with presentations from the two recipients of the 2023 FISU Gender Equality Awards, respectively Samar Judah Mousa and Arménio Coelho. In addition, the Co-Chair of the International Working Group Women & Sport, Annamarie Phelps, addressed several contemporary challenges relating to gender equality in sports.
