2nd Swiss Students Sports Award

The Swiss Medal Winners at the Winter Universiade in Erzurum

 

ZURICH – Based on a donation of Arthur Eugster, St. Gallen, a great supporter of the Swiss University Sports Federation, the Swiss University Sports Foundation could grant the 1st Swiss Students Sports Award last year to the best athletes at the World University Championships.

SUSF President Csonka and FISU Vice-President & SUSF Managing Director Leonz EderNow, at the 2nd edition, held in the Swiss National Museum in Zurich, the best athletes at the Winter Universiade inErzurumand the Summer Universiade in Shenzhen were awarded by the donator and the President of the SUSF, Andreas L. Csonka.

Some 120 guests, members of the Swiss teams at the Universiades and representatives from the SUSF sponsors were present in Zurich, where the celebration of the successful participation at both Universiades took place. At the next General Assembly of SUSF, to be held in March 2012 in Berne, also the medallists of the European Universities Championships (EUC) will be awarded for the first time. The SUSF would like to intensify the promotion of all the student sports competitions both on European and on World level.

SUSF President Csonka congratulated also Hermann Gericke, one of the first Swiss medal winners in the history of the Universiades, and Leonz Eder, recently electec FISU Vice-President.
