The International University Sports Federation (FISU) was informed by the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training of the Kingdom of Morocco that they decided to postpone the 2020 World University Cross Country Championship in Marrakech, Morocco, due to the coronavirus outbreak. The Championship was to be held on 7 March 2020.
The statement FISU received statement said: “In view of the latest rather worrying developments related to the coronavirus, which unfortunately affects several countries, we regret to inform you that our Ministry, in coordination with all the ministerial departments concerned, has taken the decision to postpone the organisation of the World University Cross Country Championship to a later date which will be decided upon agreement with your authority.”
FISU has informed its member federations of this development and will keep them apprised of the situation. FISU is confident that member federations understand the precaution taken and that we support them in every way.
