FISU launches new edition of Healthy Campus Best Practices Book

2 April 2025

The International University Sports Federation proudly announces the release of the FISU Healthy Campus Best Practices, 2025 edition, a comprehensive publication showcasing over 200 initiatives from certified universities around the world.

This landmark edition underscores FISU’s growing global network and commitment to creating healthier, more sustainable and inclusive campus environments.

This publication brings together innovative projects across seven critical domains:

  • physical activity and sport
  • mental and social health
  • nutrition
  • disease prevention
  • risk behaviour
  • environment and sustainability
  • Healthy Campus management.

These initiatives, coming from over 180 registered institutions from 40 countries, reflect the evolving priorities and remarkable dedication of universities to student well-being and sustainable campus life.

“The FISU Healthy Campus project is a visionary initiative dedicated to enhancing the overall wellbeing of students,” said Leonz Eder, FISU President. “This publication reinforces our goal of building a comprehensive and interdisciplinary framework for wellbeing in higher education. We are grateful to all our partners, from National University Sports Federations to the programme leaders of each university, for their unwavering commitment.”

The 2025 edition highlights the progress of institutions already certified under the Healthy Campus label and documents practices that serve as models for others. It also recognises the growing role of trained FISU auditors, who have been essential in supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the programme across campuses globally.

“This compilation is more than a best practices book, it is a testament to shared values and a collective journey toward excellence,” said Matthias Remund, FISU Secretary General & CEO. “Working hand in hand with universities and our national and continental federations, we are proud to see the Healthy Campus programme becoming a dynamic platform for positive change, innovation, and student success.”

The Healthy Campus initiative continues to be an essential pillar of FISU’s mission, promoting health and wellbeing as foundational components of university life. As institutions face increasing challenges in student mental health, environmental responsibility, and social inclusion, this publication serves as both inspiration and guidance for higher education leaders worldwide.
