The meeting took place on the two days preceding the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games Opening Ceremony, scheduled on 13 January 2025.
Two days of discussions, presentations, updates and working groups. This is how the International University Sports Federation executive Committee members started their stay in Piemonte.

FISU’s new Secretary General and CEO, Matthias Remund, who took over from Eric Saintrond on 1 December 2024 didn’t wait for the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games’ Opening Ceremony to kick off the action. He was busy meeting many people from the university sports world and other stakeholders.
But of course, as a former participant to the World University Games in cross-country skiing when he was a student-athlete, he also managed to put his skis on and test the course in Pragelato. “It is amazing! I had so much fun!”
On the 11 and 12 of January, it was in a suit that he carried on his “inspection” work, with his ever first EC Meeting and received a warm and enthusiastic welcome from all the members.

Both the Torino 2025 organising committee and the FISU Winter Department presented reports in the morning, before the EC Members broke into working groups to discuss certain topics more intensely.
The following day, after a delicious Italian coffee and the official picture, it was the turn of FISU’s Summer Department and the event reports of the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games as well as the Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games, which made the assembly travel forward in time and look forward to two very exciting summers.

“This EC Meeting was really lively, with many feedbacks and interesting discussions between the members, smiled President Leonz Eder. This is exactly how we want to work, by listening to different opinions and suggestions and make the best decisions for the future of FISU and for University Sports.”
“I am happy to say that I have spent two very fruitful days, said Matthias Remund. Transparency and communication need to be at the centre of everything we do and I believe the EC Members agree with me on this point. I really look forward to working closely with all of them and right now to enjoy the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games!”
