Cheerleaders set to bring energy to Split 2024 FISU Championship Cheerleading

1 August 2024

The city of Split, Croatia is set to welcome the world’s university cheerleading teams to the FISU World University Championship Cheerleading 2-4 August. This is second ever FISU Championship Cheerleading, with Lodz, Poland having hosted the inaugural event back in 2018.

Competition is divided into nine divisions. Other than in the two doubles events (and jazz where there are 18-20), competing teams will each have 16 to 20 athletes.

  • Coed Premier: male & female athletes
  • Coed Elite: male & female athletes
  • All Female Premier
  • All Female Elite
  • Pom
  • Hip Hop
  • Jazz
  • Pom Doubles
  • Hip Hop Doubles

The structure of competition in each division sees a percentage of the first two days’ scores added together to make a semi-final score. At least the top five teams following the first two days will move to the day three final.

  • Day 1– All teams (40% of a 100% semi-final total score)
  • Day 2 – All teams (60% of a 100% semi-final total score)
  • Day 3 – Based on the results of 100% of semi-final score (from Day 1 & Day 2)
At minimum the top 5 teams per division will compete in Day 3 Finals.

This will be the first FISU event held in Split, but the fourth sporting event FISU has held in Croatia. Zagreb, which will also host the FISU World Forum in late August of this year, held the FISU World University Games in 1987. Though this 17 centuries old city, the second largest in Croatia, is hosting its first FISU event, it is a city of sport boasting over 100 Olympic medalists who have called the city home.

The event commences with the opening ceremony on 1 August, following which the three days of competition will take place. All the competition can be streamed live and on demand at fisu.tv and all event information (schedules, results) can be found on the organising committee’s website.
