The official list is out and 12 countries will compete in the men’s, women’s and mixed doubles events next January in Piemonte.

The Torino 2025 FISU World University Games, which will be held in the Italian province of Piemonte from 13-23 January next year have never seemed closer. The 28 teams selected for the curling competition, which will take place in PalaTazzoli in the heart of Torino, are now known.

For the very first time, a mixed double tournament will feature in the programme of FISU Winter Games. And six nations – Canada, Great Britain, the host country Italy, Norway, Switzerland and the United States – will compete with teams in every event.

Two interesting facts: Torino 2025 will be Ukraine’s first participation ever in curling at FISU Games. And Poland will be making it’s big return: the country last took part in the event in 2011 (in Erzurum, Turkey) with a women’s team.

The teams are presented in alphabetical order. Should a selected team withdraw, the available spot shall be attributed to one placed in the reserve list, until the maximum entry quota will be filled. Teams will be selected from the reserve list in accordance with the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games Regulations.

Curling appeared as a demonstration event at the FISU World University Games in 2003 in Tarvisio, Italy. By 2007, when the FISU Games were also in Italy in Torino, curling was a compulsory sport, and it has been on the competition programme ever since. At the Lake Placid 2023 FISU Games, both the women’s and men’s tournaments featured 10 teams. Great Britain won the gold, USA the silver and Canada the bronze in the men’s tournament, and China won the women’s event in front of Korea and the United States.

The next team selection for Torino 2025 FISU World University Games to be announced will be ice-hockey.
