Chungcheong 2027 first presidential visit

10 July 2024
The FISU delegation visited many future competition sites, like here in Sejong.

As part of their trip to Korea, the International University Sports Federation’s delegation travelled to meet the host of the Chungcheong 2027 FISU Games Summer.

Taking the chance of the one-year anniversary of the establishment of the Chungcheong 2027 FISU World University Games Organising Committee, the delegation of the International University Sports Federation (FISU) visited the Chungcheong region from the 7th to the 9th July 2024.

This first official visit since the attribution of the 2027 FISU World University Games Summer was a meaningful one for the Chungcheong 2027 Organising Committee.

The FISU delegation, consisting of the FISU President Leonz Eder, the FISU Secretary General Eric Saintrond, the FISU Summer Games Director Jing ZHAO and Executive Assistant Pandora Soultis, visited the closing ceremony venue and the FISU Games village, inspected the facilities and reviewed the preparation progress of the organising committee.

The FISU delegation engaged in meetings with the organising committee, including the President Kang Chang-hee and Vice-President Lee Chang-seop, to discuss plans for meticulous preparation and successful execution of the FISU Games three years from now.

Furthermore, during this visit, four cities and provincial governors from the Chungcheong region, and the organising committee President met together with the FISU delegation to strengthen their collaboration.

President Leonz Eder remarked: “Through this visit, I have witnessed the firm determination of the mayors and governors of the four cities and provinces in the Chungcheong region to promote FISU Games. This gives me strong confidence that the event will be successfully held. I kindly ask for the organising committee’s full support and continued interest.”

Secretary General and CEO Eric Saintrond added,: “The achievements of the organising committee over the past year are truly impressive. Preparations for the FISU Games are proceeding smoothly, and we anticipate that the FISU International Technical Committee (ITC) inspection in November will go without difficulty.”

Organising Committee President Kang Chang-hee stated, “The FISU president’s first visit (after the attribution) to the Chungcheong region was a meaningful occasion for everyone involved, including the organising committee. With the confidence and advice gained through this visit, we will continue our preparations for the FISU Games and ensure that the next inspections proceed without any issues.”
