Great excitement and motivation around the FISU Volunteer Leader Academy 2024

8 July 2024
Diana Barasa, FISU Student Ambassador for Kenya, presented her achievements and action plans.

Over 100 participants from all continents logged on to this first online event in preparation for the main part, scheduled on 13-14 September.

What an encouraging start! At the end of June, over 100 people from all continents joined the first online event of the FISU Volunteer Leader Academy (FVLA) 2024. Amongst them, there were of course current ambassadors, member federations but also new candidates, extremely interested in FISU’s activities.

The main aim of this first session, which was opened by FISU President Leonz Eder, was to share information and highlight the best practices of the FISU student ambassador’s programme 2023/24. This was done very effectively by Lilia Barieva, FISU Education and Culture Director, who provided highlighted the special programs offered by FISU to the interested young people, such as the International Volunteer Programme, FISU – AIPS Young Reporters Programme, Dream Together Master Programme, FISU Springboard Programme and FISU committees.

More than 100 participants joined the session including new candidates, current ambassadors and member federations.

FISU Student Ambassadors Program Coordinator, Albina Rakhmatullina shared detailed insights into the Student Ambassadors programme, outlining time frames, monthly webinars, activities, and responsibilities. She provided an overview of the FVLA event, including the application process, recruitment, training, and shared results and new initiatives for the FVLA community for the season 2023-24.

It was then the students’ turn to present their activities. Students from Costa Rica, Kenya and Sweden shared their progress and showed their national volunteer academies, sport and cultural events and their contribution to social media and to the programme itself.

The main part of FVLA 2024 will happen on 13-14 September. It will consist of comprehensive training on FISU, Volunteer Management, Leadership skills and Ambassadors training. FVLA participants in September will be awarded the status of the FISU Student Ambassadors.

Applications are open at the FISU Online Accreditation system, so if you are interested, please join us. And for any questions, you can write to us as ambassadors@fisu.net.
