27 May 2024

A FISU Delegation traveled to Korea for an inspection visit and to meet with the organisers of the 2027 FISU World University Games Summer.

The International University Sports Federation (FISU) delegation successfully concluded its second on-site inspection visit to the Chungcheong region after the event attribution, which took place from 21-24 May. The object of the inspection was to report and discuss the progress of games preparation in general, to hold venue and sports seminars, and of course to visit key venues including the FISU Games villages.

On the first two days, the delegation focused on inspecting the venues and FISU Games Village, meticulously verifying the preparation status ahead of the International Technical Committee (ITC) inspection planned in November this year.

The FISU delegation also organised seminars during their visit to Korea.

Additionally, FISU provided the sports and venue seminars to the sports managers. The focus then shifted to the master plan of the games. The President of the Organising Committee, Chang-hee Kang and the FISU representatives had their first in person meeting during which they promised to further solidify the close commitment from both sides.

Thanks to the good preparation of the Organising Committee, the inspection was successfully completed. The FISU delegation gave an overall positive evaluation, confirming the good progress in preparing for the successful hosting of the Chungcheong 2027 FISU Games.

Jing Zhao, Director of FISU Summer Games Department commented, “We are very satisfied with the in-depth discussions with the organising committee on key areas of preparation for the Games.”

Vice-President Chang-seop Lee stated, “The visit of the FISU inspection team was a valuable opportunity not only to check our preparation status but also to receive a lot of feedback. We will continue to thoroughly implement the preparation process and do our best to ensure the successful hosting of the Games.”

In July of this year, FISU President Leonz Eder and FISU Secretary Gneral and CEO Eric Saintrond plan to visit Chungcheong 2027 FISU Games Organising Committee to review the status of Games preparation for the first time.
