Football: FISU University World Cup ready to start

As of tomorrow, 12 universities in the men tournament and 8 in the women’s one will compete for the FISU University World Cup Football. The finals are set to take place on 31 October.

The last inspection of all the venues showed that the Chinese host city of Jinjiang is fully ready to launch the event. Teams have arrived, with the accreditation formalities and distribution of equipment provided by Kelme being under completion.

The referees appointed by FIFA have also arrived and they are carrying out the preparation meetings.

Today, all the participants will be briefed about the event preparations and technical aspects of the competition.

“We are in full swing to start the 2023 FISU University World Cup Football after four years of waiting. The OC has done a great job in the preparations, especially considering the challenging timeline. Due to the pandemic limitations the event could only be confirmed in April and since then an intense work has been carried out by the OC, FUSC and FISU to bring back the FISU World Cup Football on our calendar. We believe teams will be a thrilled and happy as us to be participating in this event,” said Alejandro Guerra Urbistondo, FISU Championships and World Cups Sport Manager.
