Dedicated to increasing the impact and visibility of sport projects, the congress spanned over 3-days on the University of Oviedo Campus in Gijon and served as a vital platform for collaboration, dialogue, and the exchange of ideas to shape the future of sports, in particular within the European context.

FISU was represented by Paulo Ferreira (FISU Director General), Fernando Parente (Development and Healthy Campus Director), and Sameer Janmohamed (FISU Sustainability officer), who all participated in the main sessions as well as in the sports labs breakout panels.

The event was undertaken by the Municipality of Gijon, the University of Oviedo and the Spanish Olympic Committee, and included the participation of renowned organizations and institutions.

Throughout the congress, a wide range of topics were explored, including sports policy, gender equality, sustainability, and the impact of technology on sports. Delegates engaged in lively discussions, sharing best practices and innovative ideas to address the challenges and opportunities facing European sports today.

FISU’s commitment to promoting university sports and the values of sportsmanship and friendship among young athletes showcased the importance of international cooperation in advancing sports at all levels. FISU’s presence emphasized the congress’s focus on fostering connections and collaboration beyond European borders.

The congress also served for the entities of  “Green Campus” Program to hold a working meeting. This project was launched by the European Network of Academic Sport Services (ENAS) together with FISU and other partners within the programme of the European Commission.
