Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU Games organising committee visit FISU Office in Lausanne

4 March 2022

An early step in the planning process for the Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games Summer took place this week as leaders from the organising committee visited the FISU Office in Lausanne.

The Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany was awarded the 2025 FISU Games in May of 2021.

The German delegation visiting Switzerland included Chief Executive Officer Stefan Kürten (picture above), Chief Operating Officer Alexis Schäfer (picture below) and Frederik Luett.

Kürten took the helm as CEO on 1 November 2021 and brings significant experience in international sports media, while Schäfer stepped into his role as COO 1 February 2022 after serving as Commercial and Marketing Director of the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

Jörg Förster, Chairman of the Board of the German University Sports Federation (adh) also joined some of the meetings online.

Meetings with FISU functional areas of Marketing, Media, and Education and Development provided an initial introduction between organising committee leaders and FISU staff with whom they’ll work in the lead up to the summer of 2025.
