USUAA students compete for their concept of the Ekaterinburg 2023 FISU Games Park

4 June 2021

Students from the Ural State University of Architecture and Art (USUAA) competed to present their best projects of the Ekaterinburg 2023 FISU World University Games Park.

The final stage of the competition, which began on 2 June, saw students presenting their projects in front of a professional jury consisting of prolific members of the architecture and design industries, USAAA professors, and representatives of the Ekat 2023 FISU Games Directorate. Projects were judged on their analytical, research, conceptual, architectural, and creative aspects.

The students had already started working on their projects in several stages. During the initial stage, they conducted extensive research, taking the specifics of the Historical Square into account so that numerous zones of the FISU Games Park could integrate seamlessly into the landscape of this spot so beloved by its citizens.

Contestants then had to analyse their findings, combine it with the competition’s technical requirements, and come up with their own architectural solution for the zoning of the FISU Games Park. After a few months, an intermediate presentation of the projects was held, where students received comments and suggestions regarding their works.

The competition winners will be announced on 9 June during the final ceremony at the conference hall of the Ural Design Centre.
