More than 690’000 volunteers registered for Chengdu 2021

More than 5,000 lead volunteers have now been recruited for the Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games, and the number of registered city volunteers has exceeded 690,000. Another 20,000 or so volunteers are expected to be recruited in the run up to the Games that begin on 18 August 2021. The first batch of these university volunteers has already been recruited, selected and tested from among local Chengdu applicants.

On 25 February, the Department of Volunteers of the Chengdu 2021 Executive Committee held a plenary meeting to assess the progress of preparatory work, key milestones and planning of the next stages. 

 

Chengdu volunteers 1The Department of Volunteers has so far organised more than 200 online and offline training sessions and had launched the ‘Chengdu 2021 FISU World University Games Volunteer Recruitment Ceremony’ 5 December 2020 to promote the concept.

 

A representative image, logo, nickname and slogan specific to the Chengdu 2021 volunteers will be announced in the weeks to come. The team is also promoting the 2021 summer World University Games in schools.  

 

Next, various tasks will be conducted by the Department of Volunteers, such as arranging volunteer positions, strengthening the connection with the Organising Committee of the Ekaterinburg 2023 FISU World University Games, promoting further volunteer recruitment, training and related activities, as well as improving the work system for voluntary service.
