After starting a close relationship in 2015 with the proclamation of the International Day of University Sports (IDUS), FISU and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation) are now preparing a MoU aligned with the FISU Healthy Campus programme which was launched in May 2020.

The meeting, which was led by FISU Secretary General-CEO Eric Saintrond, and by Vincent Defourny, Director of the Geneva Office of UNESCO, included different departments from both organisations and focused on developing an activity plan to strengthen the relationship and work towards common goals.

FISU and UNESCO have common strategic guidelines and global priorities to promote the 2030 Agenda and the related Sustainable Development Goals that form the overarching policy consensus on development priorities, goals and targets that guide international and national policy design, implementation and monitoring.

The development of a common strategy within the scope of the mission of each organisation, with a plan of activities and common indicators, is also an objective, among various others.

The next two months will be for working in partnership to define the mentioned activity plan with the definition of objectives and expected impact on the campuses’ communities which, consequently, is expected to positively affect society in general.
