#UniSportsClassics storms back with the Trentino 2013 men’s ice hockey final

For the men’s ice hockey final golden competitors of Canada and Kazakhstan, there’s a reason its part of FISU’s #UniSportsClassics library. Taking place in the Gianmarco Scola Ice Arena in Alba di Canazei, a picturesque mountain village in the Dolomites, Canada came through the semifinals by avenging their 2011 Winter Universiade defeat to Russia, winning 2-1.

 

Kazakhstan, meanwhile, comes storming into the gold medal game with a surprising 5-1 win over USA Team.

The Canadians can make it an ice hockey double gold as their women took the title on the penultimate day of the Games in Trentino. Said victorious Canadian women’s captain, Kim Deschenes. “It was a great match for our nation, and we are proud to win the Winter Universiade title for the third time in a row.”
