NAPOLI,  7 July – As Table Tennis started at the 30th Summer Universiade, China did not lose a match in both, the men’s and women’s event, as they won gold at the PalaTrincone in Pozzuoli.

In the women’s team final, China beat Japan as 3-1, that one game lost to Ando Minami ended up being the only conceded game for China in the entire opening day. The matches are best of five, so the first to three games wins.

This is the second Universiade for Japanese Ando Minami who started playing table tennis at the age of six years. “This is my second Universiade and I came here for the gold medal, but we missed it again,” she said to FISU. “The results are just like two years ago, in Taipei 2017, when we lost the team final to Korea. So, I feel a little disappointed now.”
