20 days to go for Krasnoyarsk 2019

11 February 2019

KRASNOYARSK – There’s 20 days to go for the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade and the army of volunteers have moved into the final stage of training. This phase of training will go on until 27 February, conducted by experts from the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the 2017 Confederations Cup and the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The volunteers include not just locals from Krasnoyarsk, but also people from other cities and countries. In addition to getting familiar with the sports and venues, they are also taught teamwork, professional ethics and skills of interaction with people with limited mobility.

56-year-old Lyubov Trukhina, who hails from Kansk, says she feels equally comfortable among young people.

“At heart I am the same as my young colleagues. In my opinion, the main thing in volunteering is to love people, be kind, caring and patient. During the trainings I brushed up my knowledge, I am interested in learning and I want to be useful.”

The Winter Universiade will see 5,000 volunteers in action, over the 11 days of competition. The final preparations will be made on 27-28 February, just ahead of the Opening Ceremony on 2 March.
