Mexico and United States impress at WUC American Football

20 June 2018

Japan takes on the USA Team at the 2nd edition of WUC American Football, with the Americans on offsense, driving deep into scoring territory

HARBIN – With the country name in the title of the sport, perhaps it should come as no surprise that the USA team rang up 21 unanswered points on team Japan before the world number two ranked university in the sport managed a field goal at the FISU World University American Football Championship on Tuesday.

Wet conditions dampened the field and the American’s impressive offensive passing attack in the later quarters, but the outcome was never in doubt as team USA pushed ahead for a 42-3 victory.

The Americans look like they are on a crash course for the two-time defending WUC American Football champs Mexico. And what a clash its setting up to be: El Tri looked every bit as physical-meets-finesse as they ran up the score 56-0 by half-time. Team Mexico slowed down the offensive onslaught in the second half to win 70-0 – or one point more than the USA team’s rout of China.

American Football game day begins again on Thursday (21 June) after a rest day as China goes up against Korea in the afternoon game and USA taking on Mexico in the evening tilt.
