Beach Games Arena is ready to host Largest University Beach Games in Maceió, Brazil

MACEIO – Set on the sands of Pajuçara beach in Maceió, Brazil, the II International University Beach Games arena was designed to offer the best structure to athletes and the general public. The space consists of two blocks and has the capacity to receive three thousand people.

 

Beach Games general coordinator Alessandro Gomes explained that the arena was designed according to international standards and is able to meet the expectations of all participants in the competition. “During the training, it was already possible to observe the delegations’ satisfaction with the logistics and structure of the event. I believe that in the beginning of the competitions the surprise will be even greater in relation to the organization and the interaction between the athletes and the public”, he commented.

 

The space will have the special presence of students from the public schools of Alagoas state. With the mission of inserting the sport in the various media, as a driver of personal and professional growth, the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU) signed a partnership with these institutions to publicize sports practices. Students will watch beach handball, beach soccer and beach volleyball games.

 

Live Streaming

Besides to the international structure, this edition of Beach Games comes with more news. The 78 matches will be shown live on CBDU Facebook. This way the games can be followed in real time by fans from all over the world. “With everything ready and all the effort committed by those involved in the organization, our perspective is to see a full arena, with the largest possible audience”, said Lucas Romariz Pontes, CBDU Marketing and Communication Manager.

 

Delegations

The first delegation to arrive in Brazil was the Chilean. Bronze medallists in the first edition of the Beach Games, the beach soccer students of Chile represent the Universidad Arturo Prat (UNAP). “We are training to earn the gold medal this year. We were in third place in the last championship, but this time we want to become the champions”, emphasized the captain Sebastian Vegan.

 

The Chilean team coach Eduardo Medalla highlighted the challenge of facing Brazil in this sport. “In all the international competitions, our great competitors are the Brazilian teams, but our group is renewed and everybody has affinity”, emphasized Medalla.

 

II International University Beach Games

The second edition of the International University Beach Games will take place between 27 March and 1 April in Maceió and will feature 250 athletes from more than 10 countries, i.e. Chile, Paraguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, Uruguay, Colombia, as well as an African team in a student internship in Brazil. They will compete in beach handball, beach soccer and beach volleyball, in men’s and women’s tournaments.

 

Brazil will be represented by universities of the Alagoas state and by the winning teams of the last edition of the National University Beach Games, held at the end of 2016.

 

The event is realized by the Brazilian University Sports Confederation (CBDU), the FISU America and the University Sports Federation of Alagoas (FADU), with the seal of the International University Sports Federation Federation (FISU). Partnership: Ministry of Sport, Maceió City Hall and Onza Fabric and Industry.
