#IDUS2016 Celebration at Five Swiss Universities

LAUSANNE – Five University Sports Organizations in Switzerland offered special activities to their students and employees, but also to the public, at the occasion of the 1st International Day of University Sports. At St. Gallen University, also Headquarter of the Swiss University Sports Federation since 1992, a Charity Cycling Marathon was held under the leadership of Daniel Studer, Deputy Head of the Sports Department and also EduC Member of FISU. During three hours many students took part at this indoor cycling event and sponsored a respectable amount of money for the ‘Heilpädagogischer Verein Rorschach’, an institution for disabled persons.

Luzern University attracted the University Community with a lot of activities which addressed a huge number of students as well. Under the leadership of Patrick Udvardi, the students could chose special classes e.g. in Spinning, Box Aerobic, Step Aerobics, Yoga, Badminton etc.

Bern University helped SUSF to organize a friendly basketball game between Chinese Exchange Students in Switzerland and a team from Berne University. This event was co-organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Switzerland and Leonz Eder, Managing Director of the SUSF and FISU 1st Vice-President together with the University of Berne. The Chinese team was composed by exchange students from Zurich, Basel, Geneva, Berne and Lausanne University.

Lausanne University is heavily involved in the FISU Festival, organized in the framework of IDUS on 24 September.

Finally the Academic Sport Association Zurich (ASVZ) will organize special Welcome Days to promote a huge range of sport activities for the University community of Zurich University, Federal Institute for Technology and the Zurich Universiade of Applied Sciences under the IDUS label at the coming week-end
