2017 Winter Universiade: Protocol and Conference

ALMATY – FISU, represented by its Director Educational Services and Protocol Coordinator Kolë Gjeloshaj visited Almaty on 2 and 3 October in preparation for the official ceremonies and academic conference of the 28th Winter Universiade to be held from 29 January to 8 February, 2017.
Members of the Organising Committee Secretariat showed Mr. Gjeloshaj the progress of the construction of the stadium (12,000 seats) in which the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be held, the park in the city center which will host the medal awarding ceremonies every night and the ski jumping and speed skating arenas. The delegation also visited the Athletes’ Village in order to discuss the scheduling of ceremonies, flags and symbols.

The second part of the trip was devoted to the preparation of academic conference to be held in the Kazakh Academy of Sports and Tourism on 3 and 4 February, 2017. It is chaired by Mr. Kairat Zakiryanov. The meeting, attended by most members of the Academy and the Universiade Organising Committee, took place at the Academy. The Conference will focus on the theme of health.
