GWANGJU – Team Sweden at the Universiade in Gwangju consist of 111 athletes and officials. The size of the delegation and the level of the athletes is the result of a project initiated nine years ago, aiming towards an increase of Swedish participation at international competitions. The size and quality of the team going to Gwangju shows that different Sport Federations in Sweden have realized the potential of development through university sports.

– The organization of Team Sweden is better prepared than ever before, and the team of athletes is the strongest ever being sent from Sweden to a Universiade, says Stefan Bergh, Honorary President of the Swedish University Sports Federation.
