FISU Young Reporters Ready for Gwangju!

LAUSANNE – The FISU Media & Communication Committee chaired by EC member Verena Burk recently selected the twelve journalism students and/or young graduates who will be a part of the 3^rd edition of the FISU Young Reporters’ Programme during the 28^th Summer Universiade in Gwangju, Korea, this July. The twelve journos, who will travel to Gwangju from the five continents are ready for their adventure. Check out their enthusiasm …

Lubov Kudelko (BLR): “I am infinitely happy and thankful. This educational opportunity is extremely important for my current career. Months ago I received my first sports position as an inspector of public relations in a professional ice hockey team. Although, when I applied, I had only freelance and volunteer experience in sport. I need to demonstrate all my skills and talent at this new position now. That is why I need this programme more than before. I believe the training will sharpen my professionalism to the highest degree and will help me in my desire to get the position of media officer at the World Ice Hockey Championship in Belarus in 2021. So, I am looking forward to the start of the programme!”

Maximilian Länge (GER): “I am thankful for this opportunity and I’m sure the YRP will light up my personal tomorrow and be the next step on my way to becoming an international reporter. I look forward to meeting people from many different countries who share this dream.”

Davis Harrigan (AUS): “My first reaction was this: O. M. G! The opportunity to participate in a global event with thousands of competitors is an experience I cannot wait to be a part of. Having been a journalist and photographer at the Australian University Games, I know how thrilling it will be. It makes my heart skip a beat.”

Chidiebere Ezeani (NGR): “It gives me great honour and pride to have been selected amongst the twelve young journalists taking part in this Summer Universiade, can’t wait to meet the other eleven and of course the people of Gwangju,  so excited, can’t wait.”

Elizabeth Whitbeck (USA): “I am extremely humbled to be selected to partake in this programme and experience specialised sport media training at such a high calibre. Going to the World University Games is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me as I have never been outside of the United States. What I look forward to most is witnessing the influence of sport on a global platform and experiencing different cultures.”

Megan McPhaden (CAN): “I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to take part in the Young Reporters’ Programme at the 2015 Summer Universiade in Korea. Dreams really do come true and I can’t wait to dive in and get started.”

Mahmoud Khairy (EGY): “I can’t express how glad I am to be one of the very lucky selected candidates for this great programme in such an amazing country like Korea!”

Dania Abdullah (PAK): “It is indeed a life changing moment for me to come and voice my opinion in this house where the role and impact of media is being considered, which now a days is the main driver in general and key driver in particular. I am looking forward to this learning opportunity.”

Jiang Kaixiao (CHN): “The word ‘Unbelievable’ can describe the whole thing being selected for the YRP. It’s hard to believe that I can be the lucky guy to take part in the honorable job, but it is real. I think it will be the most splendid story in my whole life. And I will put my whole heart into this job.”

Otto Oliver Olgo (EST): “To set goals and live out dreams, you need a plan. Detailed, thorough, no-excuse and no-self-bashing type of plan. My plan is simple, yet effective: use micro-managing. Smaller goals lead to results, results lead to big goals, big goals lead to fulfilling those dreams.”

Karen Quintero (COL): “It is a pleasure to have been selected and to take part in this project. Thanks to the FISU Young Reporters’ Programme for giving me this great opportunity because I can put into action my skills as a journalist. I’m sure it will be a rewarding experience.”
