FISU Conference and Education Workshop in Taipei City

TAIPEI CITY – On 12 and 13 November, FISU 1st Assessor Alison Odell and FISU Director of Educational Services Kolë Gjeloshaj were in Taipei City for a Workshop on the FISU Conference and educational activities of FISU during the Summer Universiade. The meeting was attended by more than 30 persons. Mr. Tim T.Y. Ting, the Vice-Mayor of Taipei city and Dana Tai the President of the Taipei University and former Minister of Sport welcomed the FISU representatives and chaired all meetings.

The purpose of the meeting was to overview all documents and strategies that need to be prepared and implemented in order to have a successful Conference. FISU is one of the few organisations in the world combining a major sport events with an extended educational programme including an academic event such as the Conference. All accredited persons to the Universiade have free access to the Conference, hence the reason why many athletes who are PhD or master student are taking advantage of this opportunity to present a paper. Previously, FISU also launched a “Young Researcher Award” in the context of this event.

The Taipei University will be the host of the 2017 Conference. It was founded in 1895 which makes it the oldest university in Chinese Taipei and is located in the centre of the city (http://www.utaipei.edu.tw). The FISU delegates visited not only the University but also the different accommodation locations selected by the Organising Committee.
