Gwangju Universiade opens Permanent Promotion Center

 GUOC 2015 held the opening ceremony of the Promotional Center on the 1st floor of the Gwangju city hall

GWANGJU – The 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade Organizing Committee held the opening ceremony for the ‘Gwangju Universiade Promotional Center’ in the Gwangju City Hall and unveiled it to the citizens of Gwangju, on10 July.

At the opening ceremony, more than 100 attendants were present, including Yoon Jang-hyun, the Chairman of the GUOC, Cho Young-pyo, Chairman of the Gwangju City Council, Gwangju city officials, Gwangju Sports council members, GUOC members, university student ambassadors and volunteers.

The Promotional Center is about 66m², with the main concept based on the World Cup Stadium. It includes features such as a Universiade zone, a Media zone, an Experience zone, a Photo zone and so on.

In particular, the contents of the center include state-of-the-art features, such as a three-dimensional media artwork using flexible LED strips, a UBI Interactive system using a touch screen (allows SNS messages to be sent in real-time), and a motion recognition systemized experience zone, allowing the visitors to not just look but enjoy and engage in the activities.

During the congratulatory address, Mayor Yoon said, “With the Universiade less than a year from now, the promotional center will become a medium for the citizens of Gwangju to take part in the Games.” He also added, “The Gwangju Universiade will ensure Gwangju to become a global city. We should work together to show the spirit, value, warmth, and oneness of Gwangju to the world in a year’s time.”
