FISU conducts 2nd CTI Inspection for Gwangju Universiade

GWANGJU – With the Gwangju Universiade about 400 days away, FISU’s International Technical Sub-Committee for the Summer Universiade (CTI-UE) began its inspection of the preparations being made for the 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade.

The Inspection is taking place from May 29^th for 14 days, beginning with the opening meeting and the sports seminar, whereas the inspection will be divided into 3 groups for the sports that will be covered during the visit.

On May 29^th, before the official inspection began, the members of the FISU Secretariat together with the Gwangju Universiade Organizing Committee (GUOC) held a general introductory meeting to discuss the preparation of the inspection visits to be held throughout the upcoming days. Afterwards, Mr. John Warnock, FISU CTI-UE Chair; Melanie Stallecker, FISU Sport Assistant; Mirjana Cvijanovic, FISU Technology Consultant and the invited speaker, Adam Sotiriadis, delivered a Sports Seminar.

The seminar included different sports-related topics including amongst others sports management structures, sports entries and sports info and results services. Adam Sotiriadis gave a presentation on competition management, venue management and the operation of the Sports Command Centre by using experiences from past sporting events. The OC will consolidate the information given into preparing for the necessary test events that are planned to be held in August and for planning a seamless 2015 Gwangju Summer Universiade.

Meanwhile, group A, consisting of 8 sports (archery, artistic & rhythmic gymnastics, athletics, fencing, shooting sport, table tennis and tennis), has started to conduct inspection visits from May 30^th, for 3 days in the Gwangju and Jeolla province. The inspection team consists of FISU Technical Delegates for each sport, OC and FISU staff, and NSF representatives.

These inspections will define the final requirements that are needed to deliver a successful Summer Universiade including venue layouts, support services, auxiliary facilities and others. Group A’s inspection visit will finish on June 1^st, with a closing meeting including the planning, sports, transportation, catering, security, accreditation, media and other related departments of the OC.
