Krasnoyarsk 2019 WU Organizing Committee holds First Meeting

KRASNOYARSK – On 28 February, in the framework of the Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum the first Krasnoyarsk 2019 Winter Universiade Organizing Committee meeting dedicated to the preparations for the 29th Winter Universiade 2019 in Krasnoyarsk was held. The meeting was chaired by Igor Shuvalov, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee.

The meeting was attended by the Presidential Aide of the Russian Federation Igor Levitin; Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Vitaly Mutko; the Governor of Krasnoyarsk region Lev Kuznetsov; President of the Russian Students Sport Union Oleg Matytsin, State Secretary/Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Natalia Parshikova; Minister of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy of Krasnoyarsk region Sergey Alekseev and other members of the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Organizing Committee, as well as invited guests.

During the meeting, Minister of Sports Vitaly Mutko presented his report about the preparations for the 29th Winter Universiade in 2019 in Krasnoyarsk.

At the beginning of his speech, on behalf of the FISU Executive Committee, FISU 1st Vice-President and RSSU President Oleg Matytsin congratulated the Russian authorities on the successful organization and hosting of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics. In his speech Oleg Matytsin emphasized the importance of Krasnoyarsk promotion during the international FISU events as one of the OC activities, submitted proposals regarding additional sports in the 2019 Winter Universiade programme and noted the need to speed up establishing the Krasnoyarsk 2019 Executive Committee for the cooperation and contract signing with FISU.

A report on the infrastructural development of the Krasnoyarsk region in connection with the organization of the 2019 Winter Universiade was presented by the Governor of Krasnoyarsk region Lev Kuznetsov.

During the meeting a plan for the preparation of major events related to the 29th Winter Universiade Krasnoyarsk 2019 was approved as well.
