Gravelines prepares for 2014 WUC Rowing

3 June 2013

GRAVELINES – With 16 months to go before the 2014 World University Rowing Championship, the Local Organising Committee recently held a meeting in the offices of the ‘Parc des Rives de l’Aa’. This working meeting was also attended by FISU and FISA delegates, i. e. Paulo Ferreira (WUC Director) and Eva Szanto (FISA Technical Delegate) and by Vincent Rognon, FFSU National Director.

This meeting allowed the various committees to report on the progress of the preparations and validate the various sports, technical and administrative venues. It was held in the wake of the French National School and University Championships, organized the weekend prior to the meeting and which served as a test event for next year’s WUC. These championships were a great success, bringing together a thousand rowers and paddlers.

The recently held FISU WUC Seminar that took place at the FIDSU headquarters in Brussels, Belgium was attended by Christopher Millard, FFSU Assistant National Director in charge of international events and Mary Leclercq, executive assistant at the ‘Parc des Rives de l’Aa’ and project manager for the upcoming WUC Rowing.

The official website of the WUC Rowing will be launched soon.
