Team GBR complete Staff Appointments for Kazan 2013Team GBR complete Staff Appointments for Kazan 2013

LONDON With 3 months to go until the Summer Universiade in Kazan 2013, BUCS announced that appointments for the GBR staff team are now complete.

Three HQ Medical Officers and nine HQ Physiotherapists join Luis Media as CMO and Nicki Combarro as Head Physio to complete the 14-strong medical team.

With senior roles already appointed, the HQ and media team has been supplemented by a number of volunteer student roles – sports sabbatical Chris Purdie (University of Stirling) as HQ Administrator, The Saint editor Richard Browne (University of St. Andrews) as Media Officer and Russian language student Ralph Pickering (University College London) as HQ Translator/ Administrator.

The HQ team is also joined by Cienna Smyth on a secondment from her role as Marketing & Membership Advisor at University of East London, and BUCS’ Major Events Manager Vikki Campbell, who will lead the holding camp in Moscow in advance of the Games.

Sports-specific appointments have now been completed across the competing teams, including Loughborough’s Steve Bayley continuing his role as Swimming Head Coach, supported by Stirling’s Ian Wright and Edinburgh’s Chris Jones.

The core of the 2012 double Gold-medal winning Rugby 7s coaching staff also continue in their roles – with England 7s Ass’t Coach Russell Earnshaw as men’s Head Coach, his counterpart, England women’s 7s Ass’t Coach Susie Appleby as women’s Head Coach, assisted by incumbent Team Managers Adrian Evans and Sophie Bennett.

Pete Bush has been re-appointed as Coach for Badminton after 3 previous cycles in the role, and Maciej Wojtkowiak continues in his role as Fencing Head Coach.
In women’s football, the team is completed with the appointments of Lee Kendall as GK Coach, and Luke Taylor as Sports Scientist. 

Lastly, BUCS welcomes Judo Head Coach Juergen Klinger to the team.

The Great Britain team in Kazan 2013 will consist of around 175 delegates in 12 sports/teams.
