Namibia unveils Logo for the 6th FASU Games 2012

13 November 2012

Windhoek Hilton Hotel

Windhoek The president of TISAN and chair of the Organizing Committee of the 6th FASU Games 2012 unveiled a logo and slogan for the games which are just less than 30 days away.

According to Mr. Werner Jeffery, they adopted the slogan, “UNITED ON THE SMILE OF AFRICA” because their country, Namibia, is widely regarded by many as the smile of Africa due to its democratic government, diverse population that live together in harmony, the vast desert, semi-desert and also sub-tropical landscapes, the rough untouched ocean and the richness in diamonds, platinum and the fishing industry.

The logo symbolizes African student athletes, coming together in Namibia under the banner of FASU, to compete against each other in different sports and also experience the warm Namibian hospitality that the country is known for. The logo has received a lot of support from the FASU family through the social network forums.

Meanwhile, the University of Namibia Main Campus is set to be the games village. The Hilton Hotel has been designated as the official hotel for the FISU/FASU family, while the Windhoek Country Club has been designated for other officials and the media. Most of the competion events shall also take place on campus. Off campus venues are all in a 5 km radius from the games village.
