KATO KINABALU – The 3^rd edition of the Asian University Taekwondo Championship came to an end with the Kyorugi competition. The results can be consulted below.

The awarding for Kyorugi events was held after the competition. The Thailand team dominated the competition with their total haul of seven gold, two silver and one bronze medals, winning the overall title. AUSF Preecha Payoonpat and Deputy Vice Chancellor Assoc. Prof. Datuk Dr. Kasim Md Mansur presented the trophy to the top three teams.

The Closing Ceremony was hosted immediately after the Awarding Ceremony. Mr. Preecha Payoonpat expressed the gratitude again to the Organizing Committee UMS, the Ministry of Higher Education, the Malaysia University Sports Council, the participating teams, the referees, the local press and volunteers, who made the joint efforts to make this championship successful.  He hoped that all the participants could bring back home their wonderful memories in Kota Kinabalu. In his closing speech, Dr. Kasim said “Sportsmanship is very important and not just merely winning and losing. The satisfaction in competition is when you realize that you have tried your very best.” Under Secretary Dr. Saharudin Ismail from the Ministry of Higher Education was also present at the Closing Ceremony.

With the lowering of AUSF flag, the 3^rd Asian University Taekwondo Championship closed its curtains. The 3-day championship was daily reported by the local newspapers, like Sabah Times, Daily Express, The Borneo Post, etc. The next AUSF event will be the 7^th General Assembly and 2^nd Asian University Beach Volleyball Championship, during which AUSF will celebrate its 20^th Anniversary.
