United Korean Team for 2015 Gwangju Universiade Noted at UN Meeting

GENEVA On behalf of the Korean government delegation, Mr. Yoon-seok Kim, Secretary General of the 2015 Gwangju Universiade Organising Committee attended the 3rd Plenary Session of the Sport for Development and Peace International Working Group held in Geneva, Switzerland on Oct. 2, 2012.

United Nations Sport for Development and Peace was established in 2004 in an effort to contribute to the world peace through sport policy and has 191 member nations. 60 nations including both South Korea and North Korea attended this Session, which drew the special attention of all participants. 

During the session, Secretary General Kim gave a presentation on Korea’s policy for sport development contributing to world peace and its strong will to form a united Korean team at 2015 Gwangju Universiade as well as future promotion plans.

After the UN meeting, Mr. Kim visited Youth Leadership Camp site in Magglingen, Switzerland on Oct. 4. The Camp is organised by the UN Office on Sport for Development and Peace (UNOSDP) and he discussed with the UN staff regarding next year’s Youth Leadership Camp to be held in Gwangju, Republic of Korea.
