KAZAN More and more schoolchildren learn about the 27th Summer Universiade as the Lesson of the Universiade project, initiated by the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate, keeps unfolding in Kazan.

One of such lessons took place at Gymnasium No 12 in Kazan. Schoolchildren were given an insight into the history of the World University Games, International University Sports Federation (FISU) and got acquainted with Kazan’s experience of gearing up to the 2013 Summer Universiade. The kids enjoyed the lesson very much as they found out lots of useful information about the Games and Kazan 2013 volunteer programme. Each of them became fully aware that this mega sporting event will touch the lives of almost every citizen in Kazan.

The Lesson of the Universiade kicked off on September 1st, 2012 in all education institutions of the capital of Tatarstan and is held with the assistance from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tatarstan and Education Department of Kazan’s Executive Committee. The total audience of the Lesson of the Universiade project includes over 11,000 people from various education institutions of Kazan, including 27 secondary schools, 2 specialised secondary education establishments and 10 higher education institutions.

During the lesson schoolchildren watched the video clips about how Kazan and its citizens are getting ready to welcome guests in 2013 and how the host city is changing ahead of the 27th Summer Universiade. All educational resources used during the lessons had been carefully examined by top representatives of Tatarstan’s teaching community.

The Lessons of the Universiade will be held at education institutions throughout the entire autumn. The higher education institutions that partnered with the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate will play the utmost role in this project; as of today 38 of them are already involved in it.
