2013 WU Update: New Inspection visit in Trentino

TRENTINO – A meeting with the Trentino 2013 Organizing Committee was held to evaluate the progresses made in the last months and plan for the near future.

First day of inspection visit today in Trento for the FISU CSU to get information on the progresses related to the organizing of the Winter Universiade, which will take place in Trentino on December 11-21, 2013.

The visit, which will end on Sunday September 9, started this morning at the seat of the University of Trento, where the CSU met with the President and the Secretary General of Trentino 2013, Sergio Anesi and Filippo Bazzanella, and several representatives of the different areas of the Organizing Committee. At the beginning of the meeting the Rector of the University of Trento, Davide Bassi, welcomed the FISU delegation and the OC, underlining the support of the University of Trento in this project in the conviction that the Winter Universiade is a great opportunity for the whole University and its students as well as for the whole region.

The President of the Organizing Committee, Sergio Anesi, has stressed the role of the Autonomous Province of Trento and the territory, which are investing a lot in this important event and declared that the Organizing Committee is starting working very hard and with enthusiasm to seize this great challenge.

Kairis Ulp, CSU chair, expressed her conviction, and the one of the whole FISU delegation, that Trentino will be able to organize a great Universiade. “I’ve seen the progress that you are making in the organization – she said – and the passion of the people working in the team and we really appreciate it.”

The meeting was attended also by representatives of CUSI (Italian University Sports Centre). Its president, Leonardo Coiana, underlined the support of CUSI in the organization process of the Winter Universiade.

With the Secretary General, Filippo Bazzanella, the meeting entered more in details with a general presentation of Trentino 2013 Winter Universiade and in particular of the progresses made by the OC in the last months and with the planning of the next steps. The heads of some departments have had the opportunity to present their areas and the plans for their job in the next six months.

The visit will go on tomorrow with the visits of the hotels selected for accommodation in the Fiemme and Fassa Valleys. The programme will continue on Sunday with the visits to the hotels of Trento, Monte Bondone and Baselga di Pinè.
