22 August 2012

Dress rehearsal of the Opening Ceremony

AACHEN Today, August 22nd, at the Aachen Soers, the 10th World University Equestrian Championship begins. After the first round dressage at 6 o’clock the big Opening Ceremony starts in the Deutsche Bank Stadion. After the official Opening Ceremony of the WUEC and the marching pass of nations the audience can look forward to seeing a colorful and unique program with elements of riding which are combined with collegiate sports.

Yesterday at the dress rehearsal we eagerly awaited the musical performance by Lisa Solovyova, a student of the Musical University of Cologne section Aachen. She will open the colorful program followed by a moving welcome by the university sports groups from the RWTH Aachen University and the University of Applied Sciences in Aachen featuring a cocktail of acrobatics, juggling, rock`n´roll, ballroom dancing, oriental dancing, and wheel gymnastics. The many different university sports groups perform together. Motto of their big and exciting show is “Ride here, ride now”.

The audience can look forward to many exciting show elements. The novel show “black is beautiful” commanded by Günther Fröhlich leads over to other interesting horse images. The “dance of passion” by Max Wadenspanner and Geertje Hesse from the stable de Ridder presents a sweeping, Spanish figure. Furthermore German riding pony stallions from Westphalia presented by the pony stallions of Jill Mieleszko show how great small ponies can be. And the final element may be the most impressing. Kai Vorberg the World- and European champion on his stallion Sir Bernhard RS von der Wintermühle, comes back to the Aachener Soers where he won the vaulting competition of the CHIO in 2006. Together with Lukas Klouda and Miro Rengel he performs a vaulting show called Masterful Moments.

After the final rehearsal, Heike Nitzsche, the coordinator of the Opening Ceremony, said that she is satisfied with the progress of the practice and that the audience can look forward to a diversified program, in which equestrian sports and university sports are producing a harmonic overall picture.
