13th WUC Futsal: Rest Day in Competition

BRAGA Today, August 22nd, is the rest day for the student-athletes at the 13th World University Futsal Championship.

For the men, the groups’ stage ended yesterday, and now those who made it through to the quarter-finals must prepare to face their opponents on Thursday and Friday. For the women, having each team played a few matches, it’s time to regroup and strategize for the next match, which may already decide a champion.

On rest day, the teams are free to choose whether to rest, practice in the training facilities, or see the sights of Braga and the region of Minho, that is hosting the event.

Tomorrow afternoon, the competition will kick back into gear, with Russia facing France and Brazil facing Spain in the women’s tournament, and the quarter-finals playing out for the men.

In the morning, the men’s competition will also take place, but only for those who didn’t make it through to the quarter-finals, who will be playing for places 9th through 16th. The competition to the quarter-finals will take place in the afternoon.
