KAZAN – The ‘Help to Gear Up for School’ charity campaign takes place in the Republic of Tatarstan on August 1-25 to provide children from low-income families, disabled children and multi-child families with the supplies they need to get their school year off to a great start. Also actively involved in the campaign is the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate which will make sure that Uni the snow leopard kitten, Kazan 2013’s mascot adored by all children, will accompany them on their path to graduation.

The mascot’s image will be featured on an array of school supplies, i.e. school diaries, exercise books that will also contain plenty of fun information about the 2013 Summer Universiade.

‘Help to Gear Up for School’ is an annual project aimed at helping children to gear up for the upcoming academic year; creating favourable and comfortable conditions to facilitate a psychological adaptation of first-graders stepping into the grown-up world; making the society understand the importance of living in an atmosphere of mutual assistance, common concern and attention to small citizens of our country on one of the most important days in their lives.

The Lesson of the Universiade will be held on September 1st in all education institutions across Tatarstan to make schoolchildren acquainted with the premier university sports event expected to come to the sports capital of Russia next summer.
