French dominate WUC Triathlon Podium

YILAN – The 11th World University Triathlon Championship started on June 30th at the Dong-Shan River. The weather in Yilan was really hot today, which is not commonly seen there; even the temperature of the water was up to 31degrees. Though most of the athletes are not used to the heat, they all did their best to earn great results in tWomen’s Podiumhe race. The exciting championship attracted lots of spectators to enjoy the competition and cheer for the triathletes.Men’s Podium

In the women’s race, the first triathlete to cross the finish line was Alex Cassan Ferrter from France, followed by Yoko Takahshi from Japan, while Diaz Gomez from Mexico ranked third.

The gold medal of the men’s race went to French triathlete André Thomas, whose teammate Felix Duchampt won the sliver. Lukas Kocar, a nineteen- year- old Czech athlete was the winner of the bronze medal.

For the men’s team event, France, Japan and South Africa won the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively while the United States of America, Japan and Poland scored the gold, silver and bronze in the women’s team event.

After the wonderful race, the Organization Committee provided a cultural program at the National Center for Traditional Arts. The Closing Ceremony took place at 18:00, followed by the farewell party in the hotel.
