21st WUC Handbal – Day 5 of Competitions

BLUMENAU A lot of emotion for the fifth day of the 21st World University Handball Championship as the teams showed determination on the pitch to win at all costs to secure a place in the semi-finals.

The fifth round of the 21st World University Handball Championship began with the men’s match between Mexico and Poland. It was the latter, who was the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the FISU Worlds, defeating Mexico 49:23.

The Polish girls followed suit and won the game against Chile, putting a 20:39 on the scoreboard, with 8 goals scored by Marta Dabrowska.

The European hegemony also prevailed in the women’s match between Romania and Uruguay (34:21), a score that was expected due to the technical level of the Romanians.

BRA vs TUR

A very much anticipated game was the match between the Czech Republic and Korea, which ended the first half with a tied score (18:18). In the second half, the Czechs breach the Korean defense to win the match with a 41:32.

Team Portugal also confirmed an beat Chile 47:27. Pedro Marques, netted the ball 12 times, which made him top scorer of the match.

The Brazilian women’s team faced the strong Czech team. Although the host team took the lead throughout the first half, the Czechs prevailed with a 27:35 victory.

The Brazilian men’s team played against Turkey seeking a victory to reach the semifinals of the championship. The game was very intense while the Brazilian fans vibrated with each goal their team made. Brazil won with a 33:25 score, securing first place in the pool. In the next match, Brazil faces the Czech Republic.
