11th WUC Triathlon in Starting Blocks!

YILAN – The Opening Ceremony of 11th FISU World University Triathlon Championship was held today, June 29th at the side of DonMinister Taig-Shan River. The Magistrate of Yilan County, Mr. Lin Tsung-Hsien; the member of the FISU Executive Committee, Mr. Martin Doulton; Vice-President of CTUSF, Mr. Jeng Fang-Fann and Minister of Sports Affairs Council, Dr. Tai Hsia-Ling attended the ceremony.

After the rise of the OC flag, all the participants entered the venue. Magistrate Lin and Vice-President Jeng delivered their speeches, saying: ‘‘It’s our honor to come here and we give the warmest welcome to everyone!’’. Later Minister Tai also mentioned: ‘‘Thank you FISU and CTUSF to make this event possible, and I expect everyone to have fun, make new friends, and enjoy the hospitality in Yilan. It’s going to be a fantastic experience and I hope everyone can perform his/her best in the race!’‘ She then announced the11th World University Triathlon Championship open!

The Opening Ceremony ended with the cultural performance by Lan Yang Dancers. All the athletes look forward the race tomorrow with confidence.
