2012 WUC Triathlon: Pre-event Press Conference

TAIPEI CITY – The 11th World University Triathlon Championship will take place from June 29 to 30, 2012 in Yilan, Chinese Taipei. The organizing committee is bustling with preparation as the final countdown approaches the event. On June 20th, the press conference was held in Taipei with the attendence of the deputy minister of Sports Affairs Council, Mrs. CHEN Yun-Lian who gave the flag presention to encourage the triathletes of Chinese Taipei.

During the conference, CTUSF Secretary General, Mr. TZENG Ching-yu mentioned that this is the first time WUC Triathlon is held in Southeast Asia, and he believed that all participants would be satisfied with not only this race but also the scenery of Yilan County. Secretary general CHEN from the host county goverment said that Yilan has been striving for obtaining the opportunities for hosting international events, such as the 2012 FAI-CIVL Paragliding Accuracy Asian Continental Championship held earlier this year.

The captain of Team Chinese Taipei HSIEH Shen-Yen referred to their training, saying that they feel a little bit nervous about the race, but they will try their best to keep medals at home. He also said that he will not lower his guard as every triathlete from other countries is very competitive.

“Luo-Dong night market is the most famous tourist attraction of Yilan. When you come here, you can’t miss it! ”, triathlete of Chinese Taipei Hsu Pei-Yan said. The OC and CT representatives hope the WUC participants will enjoy their stay.
