2012 WUC Floorball Update: Day 2 of Competitions

24 May 2012

CZE vs FIN

PRAGUELike Day One, Day Two of competitions at the 5th World University Floorball Championship in Prague did not bring any major surprises. In the men’s tournament, there were four big wins for the favourites. Four demolitions might be a better word. The Swedes, the Czechs, the Finns and the Swiss totally outclassed their opponents. The Czechs and the Swedes are still undefeated, and will enter the semi-finals as winners of their groups if they win their games on Friday.

In the women’s tournament of the WUC, the Swedish girls beat the Finns 7-2, and they have now won both of their games. The Czech girls cast a veil over Wednesday’s defeat by Sweden, and beat the Swiss girls convincingly by 10-3. The second place in the table will be decided in the game on Friday between Finland and the Czech Republic.

Today’s programme will bring the group stages to an end. Saturday will see the beginning of the play-offs, which will determine who takes medals home from the World University Floorball Championship in Prague.
