2013 SU Update: Winners of the Team 2013 Project announced

KAZANThe gala concert of the Team 2013 project for high schools and institutions of children’s additional education took place in the Ak Bars Youth Centre on April 23.

Students of 21 high schools and 9 institutions of children’s additional education delivered their best performances – dance and vocal numbers – in which they presented their unique vision of various countries around the world.

Marc Vandenplas, FISU Director for the Summer Universiade, who attended the gala concert as a special guest, shared his impression of what he saw. «The schoolchildren have done an amazing work», he said and recalled the hugely enjoyable experience of attending the Team 2013 project opening ceremony.

An important mission will be imposed on schoolchildren and their parents during the Universiade; they will be responsible for creating a festive atmosphere and ensuring that the World University Games inKazanwill leave only a positive impression on the visitors. «City volunteers are an important part of the 2013 Games program. Volunteers are a key to the Universiade’s success!», said Marc Vandenplas. «Whoever you ask, athletes or Games visitors, the first thing they recall is how they were welcomed by volunteers», he said.

 

 

«City volunteers focus on creating a hospitable atmosphere in the city and rendering help to visitors. A large number of athletes, tourists and fans will come to visit Kazan at Games time, and volunteers’ goal is not only to help them to get around the city and not to get lost but also to visit the city’s cultural destinations», Larisa Sulima, Chief of Staff/Advisor to the Director General of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate, underlined the significant role of city volunteers. «Today, exactly one year before the Universiade, we are trying to use the volunteer ideology to inspire students, their parents, teachers, top executives of education institutions and those who work in technical schools and higher education establishments,» she said.

Larisa Sulima also promised that another edition of the Team 2013 project would be held before the 2013 Summer Universiade and would be open to all education establishments of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Kazan 2013 partners and licensees created a fun and festive atmosphere for schoolchildren; MegaFon, the General Partner and Official Mobile Operator for the 27th Summer Universiade, organized show programs that took kids on a thrilling adventure and top talented performers received cakes baked by Bulochno-konditersky Kombinat. All the entrants were granted gift bags with the Kazan 2013-logoed school kits.

Larisa Sulima stated that the education establishments that were named winners of the Team 2013 project will be granted the status of the City Volunteer Training Centre.
