2013 Games Organizers perfect their English Language Skills

KAZAN Under the training program facilitated by the British Council, staff members of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate have begun to improve their English language proficiency.

A series of free online English learning workshops will be launched under the ‘English for Kazan 2013’ – project focused on training volunteers and staff members of the Universiade Directorate in the lead up to the 2013 World University Summer Games in Kazan. The training program will cover such topics as ‘English as a Global Language’, ‘Efficient Ways to Learn a Language’, ’Styles of Education’, ‘Vocabulary and Grammar for Professional Communication’ ,’Use of Podcasts and Video for Improving Listening Skills’, ‘English for the Games’ and many others. The workshops will be coached by the British Council’s Teacher Trainer and Language Consultant Ilnur Minakhmetov.

Two themed workshops – ‘Going Global with English’ and ‘English Grammar & Vocabulary: Making the Most of Online Resources’– have already been held as part of the project. Group training sessions run twice a week. In words of the Chief of Staff of the Kazan 2013 Executive Directorate Larisa Sulima, this training program is of extreme importance for Team 2013, as «English language fluency of the entire staff of the 2013 Games Organizing Committee is one of the key success factors for the Universiade and a display of our country’s friendliness and hospitality.»
