2013 SU Update: Tatarstan President inspects Kazan 2013 Venues under Construction

Tatarstan President Minnikhanov inspects a construction site

KAZAN – On Monday, January 23rd, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov inspected a few venues of Kazan’s sport and transport infrastructure under construction. In his tour of the facilities, the Head of the Republic was accompanied by Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin and Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of the Republic of Tatarstan Irek Faizullin

Rustam Minnikhanov visited the construction sites of the new football stadium and Aquatics Palace. According to the information given by the contractor, installation of wood beams in theAquaticsPalacewill be completed this April, and concrete pool pouring will be started in March, when the proper temperature for pouring concrete will be established.

The President of Tatarstan was also offered to view a few options of the surrounding area improvement. Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that a park would be laid out on the area of the Kazanka River bank and close to the stadium and Aquatics Palace and the area would be 100% construction free.

The Head of the Republic also got acquainted with the construction progress of the metro stations Aviastroitelnaya and Moskovskaya. According to Head of the Kazmetrostroy Municipal Unitary Enterprise Marat Rakhimov, the construction of all metro stations is proceeding according to the approved schedule.

The last venue to be inspected by the Tatarstan President was the construction site of a traffic interchange on the Lenin dam. A new overpass is planned to be erected close to the old bridge which will be demolished as soon as the construction is completed. The second section of a new overpass will be built in its place. The Head of Tatarstan ordered to increase the workload in order to meet the deadline and minimise discomfort caused to Kazan citizens.
