2017 WU Update: Universiade Lesson on 2012 Bandy World Championship

ALMATY – January 19th, 2011 in a special sport boarding school for children in Almaty within the framework of the project “Lessons of Universiade” a lesson on the 2012 World Championship Bandy took place, which was attended by pupils aged 12-16 years.

Speaker of this lesson was well-known Kazakh athlete, 2-time champion of the USSR in hockey, many times USSR’s champion in field hockey, winner of European Cup championships, world-class athlete, “Dynamo” hockey player Nikolay Shmik. The lesson addressed at the young athletes was about hockey, the history of the sport and the upcoming 2017 Winter Universiade. The students also learned about the first Kazakh players, and their merits. After all, bandy is not so popular in Kazakhstan, but the national team of Kazakhstan is one of the best bandy’s teams in the world.

“Our young athletes are very capable and they will defend the honor of Kazakhstan at the Winter Universiade in 2017. I wish them success in their athletic career”, Nikolai Shmik shared his impressions.
