6th African University Games attributed to Senegal

DAKAR UASSU, the NUSF of Senegal was awarded the hosting rights of the 6th African University Games by FASU, the African Continental University Sports Federation.

FASU, after several visits and exchanges in Dakar with the Departments of Sports and Higher Education, has decided to award the organization of the 6th African University Games to Senegal. The Games will be hosted in Dakar in September 2012.

Senegal, known for its legendary hospitality, can rely on the experience of its human resources for the organization of sports events of international scope.

The event will bring together about 2,000 students from 30 African nations who wil compete in 15 sports. All participants (athletes and coaches) will be housed in the campus of the University of Dakar (UCAD). The venues to be used for the Games will be the satdiums ‘Leopold Sedar Senghor’, ‘Iba Mar Diop’, ‘Alassane Djigo’, ‘Demba Diop’ and the National Olympic pool.

The signing ceremony of the attribution contract between the Ministry of Sports and FASU, took place today, December 16th, 2012 at 11 am at the Office of the State Minister, Minister of Sports Abdoulaye Makhtar Diop. FASU was represented by its President Michael Malumbete Ralethe and Internal Auditor, Dr. Ernest Awanta.
