2015 SU Update: GUOC meets with Sports Federations

GWANGJU – On December 13th, the Gwangju Universiade Organizing Committee for the 2015 Summer Universiade (GUOC) invited 18 sports federations to a meeting. 

The aim of the meeting was to strengthen the collaborative relationships between sports federations, with the goal of hosting the Universiade successfully. The meeting was attended by more than 60 people including sports experts and government officials who are in charge of sports events in the region. Participants shared a variety of opinions on how to work together to prepare for the international event.   

Yoon-suk Kim, the Secretary General of the GUOC, emphasized, “We need support from sports federations for an economic and efficient operation of the event.” He also passed along a request that the GUOC and all sports federations join forces for hosting the most successful event in history.” 

The GUOC will gear up to prepare for the event by reflecting on the experts’ opinions from the meeting and by firmly establishing a network among the sports federations in this region.
